Why Koan? Our Mission

A Koan or Gong An, in Japanese and Chinese respectively, is Zen meditation through wordplay. Often enigmatic and puzzling in nature, the words invite one to move beyond one’s limitations of thought and mind, to process at a deeper, more insightful level. How does this relate to healthcare and what we strive to achieve here at Koan Holistic Health?

Through patient-centred and integrative medicine, our mission is to support and empower individuals on their health journeys. By moving beyond the limit of body/ mind/spirit separation, we strive to heal and re-frame illness, pain, and suffering through acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutritional guidance, and other modalities of natural medicine.
